Possible ways to help the school

It is an obvious thing to say, but the school can always make good use of additional funding.

People often ask how they can help, and would like to know that their donation has been put to good use. It may be that you wish to help in a particular area of school for which you have fond memories. Some ideas are listed below.

If possible, and if desired, items purchased with a donation will be labelled as such, and the donation will be recorded on this site, unless there is a request for anonymity.

You can donate simply via Paypal by clicking the Donate button below. You do not need a Paypal account. Alternatively contact us via email about your intentions.

The Sports Department

Sport at school is very popular, and inclusive. A donation for sports equipment would allow a boost to stocks. Some examples - a cricket bat £60, a class netball set £130, Badminton Class Set £600, A Sportshall Decathlon Challenge Set - £1650, Trampoline - £3000.

It may be that you have (good quality) equipment that could be donated. Contact us to see if it may be suitable.

The Music Department

Music plays a major part in school life: a variety of ensemble groups practise regularly, and concerts, performances and talent shows feature throughout the school year. Instruments loaned to students for lessons allow them to experiment and make progress before buying their own. Some examples - starter acoustic guitar £35, percussion class set £120, saxophone £250, starter flute £410, multi-track recording studio equipment £1500.

It may be that you have (good quality) instruments or musical scores that could be donated. Contact us to see if they may be suitable.

The Art Department

The Art department is always short of materials for students to be creative with, and equipment with which to apply it - paints, paper, clay; brushes, knives, pens. A donation could expand the range of activities possible to students. Although by nature these are consumables and short lived, the annual art exhibition is well attended and mention would be made of any help forthcoming. Some examples - 10kg firing clay £6, paint brush class set £20, 5l acrylic paint £30, A3 framed canvas pack £45, mosaic project pack £100, table top easel £220.

It may be that you have quantities of materials, possibly waste to you, which the art department could use creatively. Contact us to see if they may be suitable.

The Technology Department

Tools and materials for technology projects are always welcome. Keeping pace with the developments in electronic machinery, as well as maintaing standard workshop tools is a difficult task. Some examples: Battery operated power tools £50, Scroll saw £200, Pillar drill £350, 3D printer £2000, Laser cutter £6000.

It may be that you have (good quality) tools that could be donated. Contact us to see if you have something that may be suitable.

Around School

There are many items that would be welcome additions around school. Some examples would be: Noticeboards: - good quality boards with lockable perspex covers keep displays from being knocked and damaged. £100-£200. Picnic tables: half a dozen sturdy picnic tables with integral seating were bought with friends donations a couple of years ago, and are much appreciated by groups at break and lunch. £140. Trophy cabinet: the Old Maltonians bought one with their funds as they closed in the 1970s. It is a little crowded nowadays. £300. Commemorative benches: strong good quality benches are always welcome for breaktimes, lunch and sporting events. £450.

Other Departments

All departments can benefit from additional funding to support their work and enrich their provision. Above are just a few ideas. If you would like to help a department not listed in any way, just contact us and indicate your interest.
