COUNTY MODERN SCHOOL

Dear Parents
As you probably know, the children at this School wear school uniform. This is not a whim on the part of Staff here, but general practice throughout the North Riding. It is essential that not only should the children have the uniform, but that they should wear it every day School is in session.
It is very important that children should have P.E. kit. For a girl this comprises a white blouse, preferably cotton, navy knickers and/or shorts. For boys it comprises shorts, football shirt and socks. Both boys and girls need towels for use after P.E. Information about football boots and hockey boots will be given in September.
Swimming is now included in the curriculum all the year round. For this boys need swimming trunks, and girls need a one-piece swimming costume. Bikinis are not suitable for School use.
It is most important that every article of clothing is clearly marked with the owner's name.
Jewellery and make-up (including nail varnish) should not be worn in School.
In the interest of hygiene and appearance, girls should have short hair styles or have long hair fastened back off the face.
Mr. Hanson has asked me to let you know of the position regarding the dinner hour. He and the Staff are responsible all day for children who stay at School for dinner. If you wish your child to go into the town for any particular reason will you please send a note. Boys should take their notes to Mr. Lindsley and girls to me.
We look forward to meeting our new entrants on 3rd September and hope their time at this School will be happy.
Yours sincerely
A M Lacey (Mrs)
Senior Mistress
