1834 Copy of a note from Archdeacon Todd

Copy of a note from 1834 from Archdeacon Todd to Archbishop of York

A copy of, or more correctly a comment on, a note written from Henry Todd, Archdeacon of Cleveland Archdeacon from 2 November 1832 – 24 December 1845 (d.) to the Archbishop of York. The handwriting suggests the copy is written by William Pound, the schoolmaster from 1835 - 1866, probably as part of his construction of the case to change the conditions under which the school operated.

A copy of the rev Archdeacon Todd’s Letter Note

Dated Settrington March 29 1834

Mr Todd presents his respects To Mr Thornton with his acknowledgement of the receipt of Mr Thornton’s letter on the subject of Old Malton School Mr Todd is inclined to think that the Master of the School must have been nominated ere this Mr Travis having resigned more than a fortnight since, and 20 days only are allowed to elapse when a vacancy occurs, from the vacancy to the nomination one of two of the candidates that had applied when Mr Travis was appointed would probably accept the appointment now. However if Mr Thornton is in time to be admitted a candidate, certainly he will have to be examined by the Archbish of York’s Chaplain Mr Wrangham) now, it is presumed at this Chester(?) Hall(?)
