Video poses me many problems, given the variation in coding methods for video, and the approach different platforms use - for example, iPad and iPhone not supporting Flash Player. My current solution is to use YouTube. A Maltonians channel has been set up and some videos have been posted.
Many of the videos have music either performed or used as a backing track. This is often copyright, and publishers or copyright owners have the right to block the video, or allow it but attach adverts to it. Hopefully this will not be too intrusive - do let me know your thoughts if you notice this.
Initially most of the videos will be from around 2006 onwards, when hard disk digital video cameras and editing software became readily available. The archive does have VHS recordings from earlier, and even a Betamax recording from the 1980s. These will take more processing, so it will be some time until they appear, if ever!
The videos are avaiable on YouTube, which has a Maltonians channel. They can be opened and played below, either in reduced size or full screen size.
Between 2006 and 2011, I produced a short compilation video each September, consisting of music, photographs and video clips, giving a flavour of some of the activities from the previous school year. These were shown in assemblies, at the Year 6 introductory evening, and at Celebration evening.

A Year 11 prom first happened on Mr Steel's arrival in 2002. It all tied in with a determined effort by staff to move away from the old idea that on their final day they played tricks, including eggs and flour battles. This worked, and the Prom and final days have become enjoyed by all, a true celebration of happy times at school. "
More leavers video
From 2001 - 2012 the traditional Easter concert, at the end of the spring term, became an Easter Show, widening its activities to include dance, comedy and drama. They were initially recorded on VHS video, but the quality is not great. Later shows were recorded digitally, and produced on DVD. Together with sell out performances on two nights, this boosted funds to improve stage lighting and sound systems.
From 2005 my Year 11 teaching group were persuaded into creating a video of a song towards the end of their school year. These were usually shown in the final assembly. As digital video equipment and editing software became more available, others also started creating short videos for the end of year, most notably Mr Steel with his dance videos.
