1836 A letter from the Archbishop

Letter from Archbishop of York to William Pound

A letter from the Archbishop of York, Edward Vernon-Venables, to William Pound, Schoolmaster of Old Malton School. There is perhaps a suggestion in the writing that he has not taken too much interest in a small school in North Yorkshire, from his grand property down in Oxfordshire.

Rev Sir

In answer to your letter of the 17th, I have time only to assure you of my best wishes for the prosperity of your School at Malton, & that the regulations you have adopted for the management of it, and both the views(?) of reading it sufficient for its ???, appear to be just and proper – should you at any Time wish for advice under unforeseen circumstances, you cannot apply for the purpose to any other, a kinder or a more judicious friend than Archdeacon Todd.

I am Rev Sir
Yrs faithfully
Ebor
