1840-3 Four letters from Sir Eardley Wilmot

Four letters clearly written in reply to communication from William Pound. Sir John Eardley Wilmot was MP for North Warwickshire, 1832 - 1843. He "prepared and brought forward" a Bill for improving the Condition and extending the Benefits of Grammar Schools to parliament in June 1840, and which was passed in August 1840, which is presumably why William Pound is in contact with him during May-July 1840.

In the fourth letter he says he is vacating his seat in parliament, and is to "leave my land for a few years". This corresponds with the date of the letter as July 1843, as Eardley-Wilmot was appointed lieutenant-governor of Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania), and arrived at Hobart on 17 August 1843, where he served until he died on 3 February 1847.

His cursive handwriting is challenging to decipher in places: I have done my best but cannot home in on some words, and there is a large element of guesswork in the transcriptions presented here.
