There has been a close connection between Malton School and the Scouts and Guides over the years, with the school hosting its own troop in the Grammar School days. When the Malton Community Sports Centre was built in 2010 these links were restored, with the Scout organisation investing money in the project, in return for a Scouts Headquarters home in half of the old East Wing gym. (The other half became a drama studio.)

There appears to be many more guide photos than scouts. A collection of 33 Guide photos from the 1920s was loaned by Phyllis Witty in 2003. Photos from other years are shown below.
